J. Derek Lewis
Derek Lewis has been an investment services professional since 1968, with decades of experience in investment due diligence and providing appropriate asset allocation for individual clients and family households.
Derek graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Finance. While putting himself through college, he gained significant securities experience working for Lester Ryan. After graduation, Derek served as an officer in the United States Navy.
He began his financial career in 1966 as a bank officer with Security Pacific National Bank, and in 1968 entered the investment banking business with Blyth Eastman Dillon, which later merged into Paine Webber.
In 1980, Derek founded J. Derek Lewis and Associates, Inc., and in 1991 he launched JDL Securities. He retired as founder and owner in 2025.

Community & Faith
Derek and his wife, Nancy, were married in 1966 and raised three children, all now adults. Nancy went to be with the Lord in April 2024. Derek has long been active in community and church organizations, serving as both a board member and officer. He also devoted 25 years to prison ministry, serving alongside his disabled son, Michael.
